AI Calculator for Everyday Maths
An AI calculator you can talk to. Type a question the way you would say it — “What is 15% of 80?”, “How long is 3.5 hours in minutes?” — and Sumzo AI turns it into maths, works it out and shows each step.
How to use the AI math calculator
- Type your question in ordinary words. Include the numbers and units, such as “km”, “hours” or “$”.
- Press Solve. Sumzo AI works out which calculation you need and writes it down before doing it.
- Read the answer first, then the steps — each one says what was calculated and why.
- Not quite what you meant? Ask a follow-up in the same box, like “and with a 20% tip?”.
Worked examples
Easy: a percentage of a number
- Question: “What is 15% of 80?”
- 15% means 15 per hundred: .
- , so 15% of 80 is 12.
Medium: average speed
- Question: “A car travels 150 km in 2.5 hours. What is its average speed?”
- Average speed is distance divided by time: .
- The average speed is 60 km/h. Check: km ✓.
Hard: a tip split between friends
- Question: “An 18% tip on a $64 meal, split between 4 people — how much each?”
- Tip: , so the total is .
- Each person pays , so $18.88 each.
- Check: ✓.
Tips for clear questions
- Give every number its unit: “150 km in 2.5 hours”, not “150 in 2.5”.
- Say what you want at the end: “… how much does each person pay?”
- Percent changes need a starting value: “a $40 price raised by 15%”, not just “raised by 15%”.
- For a long calculation, ask one question at a time and follow up.
Frequently asked questions
What is an AI calculator?
A calculator you can ask in plain language. Instead of typing 0.18 × 64 ÷ 4 yourself, you describe the problem and the AI works out the calculation — and shows it, so you can follow every step.
Is the AI calculator accurate?
Sumzo AI writes the maths, and Sumzo’s math engine re-checks the result whenever it can; each answer says whether it was checked. Sumzo can still make mistakes, so read the working.
What can I ask it?
Everyday maths: percentages and discounts, tips and splitting bills, speed, distance and time, unit conversions, averages and simple interest — and school maths too.
Is it free?
Yes. You can ask questions without an account; an account only saves your history.
Is there a calculator for one specific formula?
Yes — for a single calculation such as a percentage, interest or a unit conversion, the formula calculators give the answer instantly and show the formula they used.
